The Solderless WiiKey 2 makes it possible for just about anybody to be a modder. You can now modify your own Wii console with this chip and clip combination with only a little amount of fuss. You wont need any other tools for the job as we are shipping this item with a FREE TRI-WING screwdriver. All you will need is a standard philips head screwdriver and some of your time to put it in.

There are two different types of the Solderless Wiikey 2, so we do ask that you open your console and check what type of drive board you have prior to purchasing this product. We must pre-set the wii-clip to be compatible with your drive before we ship it. So please let us know the drive type in the order notes to ensure we send you the right product.

If you would like the Wiikey 2 and clip installed professionally into your console, most modders can do it for you at a cost of $50. So if you would like it installed by us, just bring your console in and we'll do it for you, at an extra cost of $50.

REMEMBER: You must tell us if you have a DMS or D2B drive, otherwise we will send you a clip pre-configured for D2C, D2C2 and D2E.

The Solderless WiiKey 2 has flash upgrade support just like the previous model, the second config disk v1.1 is already on the official site and we are sure more will come. The one thing you can rely on with this team is that if there is any real major problem with compatibility that may arise from a new system update, new game released, the team will be sure to make a firmware update that will solve the problem. The config disk also has a many useful options you can enable or disable as you wish, you can enable the region patcher or audio fix, change the read speed for original games both single layer and dual layer from 6x to 3x, you can also individually change the read speed for single layer and dual layer backups from 6x to 3x, this feature can be handy if your drive is struggling to read some disks due scratches, or even if you’re using a slightly cheaper media slowing the read speed down makes them less likely to have problems reading trouble disks, being able to choose original or backup speeds individually is very handy as well we think.

But the feature that stands out the most from the latest config disk v1.1 for the Solderless WiiKey 2 would have to be the new and advanced Brick Blocker function. A brick blocker is a failsafe option in the chip that will stop games from updating your Wii consoles system firmware, if you have a NTSC console and play a PAL game with a newer version of the Wii System firmware, the game will attempt to update your Wii system firmware, but the problem is PAL firmware is only meant for PAL consoles and visa versa, accepting a system update from a PAL game on a NTSC console can damage the machine or what they call brick it. Total bricking of a console has not been seen since the WiiKey days, but if you accept an update from a game outside your consoles region, it will cause issues with the function of the Wii. So now that’s explained we can explain the difference between the old WiiKey brick blocker and the new advanced brick blocker found on the Solderless WiiKey v2. The first version of the brick blocker when enabled would stop all updates from any game no matter the region, so even if you were playing on a NTSC console and played a NTSC game that asked you to make an update before playing, the first version of the brick blocker would block that update, now this is where the new advanced brick blocker on the Solderless WiiKey 2 differs, you now have the option to block all updates like the original, or you can enable to only block updates from games outside your consoles region, for example, if you tried to play a PAL game on an NTSC system and it asked to update the wii, this update would be blocked, but if you play a NTSC game with an update on a NTSC console it will allow that update as it is safe. This type of advanced brick blocker is the first of its kind and really is the perfect insurance policy against any un-wanted updates made to the Wii that could cause system problems, we can’t all watch the kids 24/7 and this will mean that you no longer have to worry about them accepting an update that could possibly damage the console.

The config disk now also shows your unique serial number for your chip, all Solderless WiiKey 2 now come with a unique serial number which you can use with the team to prove they are 100% genuine chips, there have been many problems with stores in the past that have sold clone or copy versions of chips, so the team decided the serial number would be a great way for end consumes to make sure they have not been ripped off and sold a clone as the real thing. We advise all customers no matter where they buy there Solderless WiiKey v2 from to check their serial number to make sure it’s the genuine item.

FINAL NOTE! We can't stress enough to check the drive type before ordering this product. If your drive contains EPOXY over the controller chip that the wii-clip plugs on to then your console cannot be upgraded with a Wii Clip.
